The North Pike Jaguars pounded out 12 hits, including three apiece by Jake Martin and Kendrick Hodges, to beat the Franklin County Bulldogs 15-1 in five innings during the Jaguars’ second game of the Lawrence County Spring Training Baseball Tournament on Tuesday.
Martin went 3-for-3 with a three-run home run. He added a pair of singles, walked once and drove in four runs. Hodges also went 3-for-3 with a double, two singles, a walk, three RBIs and four runs scored as North Pike improved to 7-1 on the season.
Jacob Fleming (2-1) earned the win for North Pike. He pitched three innings, allowed a run on two hits and struck out five.
Martin pitched two scoreless innings in relief. He allowed two hits, walked three and struck out one.
Revis Butler and Cody Timmons added two hits apiece.
In their first game of the day, the Jaguars got two-hit pitching from Butler to beat Loyd Star 10-2.
North Pike broke open a 1-0 game with a 9-run third inning en route to the easy win.
Butler helped his own cause with a three-run home run to cap the big third inning. Hodges and Will Richardson each went 2-for-2 at the plate. Hodges had a pair of singles and scored a run, while Richardson had two singles, was hit by a pitch and scored three times.
