North Pike’s slowpitch buried Purvis, 15-0, on Thursday night to improve to 3-0 in district play.
Sarah Brock led the 22-hit outburst with five hits of her own to go along with two RBIs. Rickera Martin blasted a home run and finished with four hits and four RBIs.
North Pike (9-4) jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and extended it to 6-0 heading into the final frame. The Jaguars put up nine runs in the seventh inning for the final margin.
Breanna McKenzie tossed a five-hit shut out.
Jana McEwen and Savannah Johnston both had a pair of hits and two RBIs. Danaraye Parks collected three hits and scored a pair of runs and McKenzie Brock and Jordan Fitzgerald both had two hits.
In junior varsity action, Purvis got past North Pike, 8-2. Janay Maxwell, Madison Nash and Brooklyn Hudspeath all singled for the Jags.
North Pike returns to action Saturday when it hosts the North Pike Softball Tournament. Bogue Chitto, McComb and Madison Central will play a round robin to determine the winner.
North Pike and Bogue Chitto begin play at 9 a.m., followed by McComb against Bogue Chitto at 10:15. North Pike plays Madison Central at 11:30 and McComb at 2 p.m. Bogue Chitto and Madison Central square off at 12:45 and Madison Central and McComb end the tournament with a 3:15 p.m. contest.
