Errors proved costly for the McComb High School softball team in a 9-4 loss at Tylertown Tuesday afternoon.
Tylertown scored four runs in the first three innings, but just one was earned.
“Right now, we’re struggling to make all ends meet as far as pulling things together and working out our little kinks,” Lady Tigers head coach Deysha Gibson said.
Sophomore pitcher LaDynasti Carr threw all seven innings for McComb, recording four strikeouts and giving up seven walks.
“Our pitcher did very well,” Gibson said. “We’re a very young team. We’ve got a lot of work to do. We have two seniors, one junior, a whole lot of freshmen, eighth graders and seventh graders.”
Senior Bethany Davis had two singles; seventh grade shortstop Haylee Jenkins and freshman Kimora Wells each hit a double; and Freniesha Harris, Abigail Jordan and Quatajia Coney each hit a single.
“A lot of people got on base, but we still need to jell to make sure that they all get around,” Gibson said. “We’re still working to see what nine works the best on our varsity games.”
McComb (0-2) hosts Purvis at 6:30 tonight and plays in the Florence tournament at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Saturday.
