For the second straight week, the MACJC men’s basketball Player of the Week hails from Southwest Missisippi Community College. The Bears’ Terrell Miller received the honor Wednesday for his performances last week against Meridian and Gulf Coast.
The previous week’s recipient of the award was Miller’s teammate Lafayette Rutledge.
In the Bears’ two games last week, Miller averaged 27 points and 13.5 rebounds as the Bears defeated Meridian and Mississippi Gulf Coast. He also hit 22 of 28 free throws.
In the 70-61 home win against Meridian, he had 21 points, eight rebounds and was 7 of 11 from the line. At Gulf Coast, he had 33 points, 19 rebounds and made 15 of 17 free throws as the Bears prevailed 89-88 in double overtime.
“He played as big as anybody could for us last week, leading us to two huge South Division wins,” SMCC head coach Thomas Gray said. “He’s coming to be one of the better players in the country and leads by example on and off the court.”
As the MACJC Player of the Week, Miller will now be automatically nominated for the NJCAA’s Player of the Week award.
