With the track season starting its elimination meets, the McComb Tigers won both the boys and girls district titles on Thursday at Southwest Mississippi Community College.
The top four athletes in each event advanced to the regional meet, which will be held at Southwest on Saturday, April 25.
McComb qualified two athletes in 13 separate events and won 12 other events.
Tomisha Swington and Keira Patterson teamed up to qualify in the 100 meters and the long jump, while Swington qualified in the 200 with Tonja Bonds, who finished first.
Brittany Harrell won the 100-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles and the high jump for the Tigers, while Markesha Robinson and Racheal Jones both qualified in the 400 meters.
Laura Kebert and Denise Smith qualified in the 1,600 meters, and Gabby Krieger and Chelsea Ford qualified in the 3,200.
The Tigers also had a duo qualify in the field, as Julencia Brown and Klevenesha Williams finished second and third, respectively, in the shot put.
The Lady Tigers are the defending 4A state champs and beat the second-place team by 53 points, or about five first-place finishes.
The girls, as well as the boys, won each of their relays, the 4 x 100, 4 x 200 and 4 x 400.
McComb’s boys had double qualifiers in the 100, 200, 1,600 meters, 3,200 meters, 110-meter hurdles and long jump.
Mario Smith won the 100-meter dash and LaMarvin Ashley finished second to send both onto regionals. Ashley and Demarcus Jenkins finished third and first, respectively, in the 200 meters.
Jenkins and Smith both qualified in the long jump, finishing first and second.
In the 1,600 meters, Anthony Mabile and David Austin qualified. In the 3,200 meters, Gabriel Imrabtene and Andy Allen qualified.
Denario Andrews and Shantoni Holbrook both qualified in the 110-meter hurdles.
Daven Gooden won the high jump for the McComb boys, Smith won the triple jump and Javonte Gardner won the discus.
