Four Parklane Academy tennis players advanced to the state tournament thanks to their performances at the south state meet last Wednesday at the Northeast Tennis Complex in Meridian.
• Cole Blue advanced to the state tournament as the No. 1 boys’ singles champion. He earned a bye in the first round as the top seed, beat East Rankin Academy 6-0, 6-0 and Jackson Prep 7-5, 6-3.
• Natalie Remley and Jack Lampton advanced to the state tournament as the mixed doubles runners up. They earned a 6-0, 6-1 win against Columbia Academy, 6-1, 6-1 victories against East Rankin Academy and lost in the championship to Jackson Prep 5-7, 1-6.
• Taylor Murray advanced to the state tournament as the runner up for No. 1 girls’ singles. She beat Presbyterian Christian School 6-2, 6-1 and Lamar 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. She lost in the championship to Jackson Prep 1-6, 4-6.
Other Parklane scores
• Natalee Nathan beat Columbia Academy in the first round of No. 2 girls’ singles 5-7, 6-4, 1-0 (10-3), but was eliminated by Jackson Prep 1-6, 0-6.
• Katie Brewer and Lacey Dumas beat Columbia Academy in No. 1 girls’ doubles 6-2, 6-1 and were eliminated with an 0-6, 5-7 loss to Presbyterian Christian School.
• Todd Hoang beat Lamar School in No. 2 boys’ singles 5-7, 6-1, 1-0 (10-5) and was eliminated by Presbyterian Christian School 4-6, 3-6.
• Alex Willis and Nathaniel Gonsalves were eliminated in No. 1 boys’ doubles by East Rankin Academy 0-6, 3-6.
• Quentin Smith and Davin Hughes were eliminated in No. 2 boys’ doubles by East Rankin Academy 3-6, 7-5, 6-10.
• Shelby Woodworth and Harper Mims were eliminated in No. 2 girls’ doubles by Presbyterian Christian School 2-6, 6-2, 7-10.
The AAA State Tournament will be held at the Ridgeland Tennis Center on Wednesday.
