In Game 2 of its doubleheader with Parklane, Copiah took control on Ben Boone’s second-inning grand slam that put the Colonels up 4-0.
Parklane Academy’s Zach Smith hammered a solo home run in the bottom of the inning to make it 4-1.
But a Parklane three-base outfield error and infield single plated another Copiah run and ran the score to 5-1.
The Pioneers tied the game in the third. After Josh Armstreet singled, Ben Kavanay walked and Wes Gill was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Austin Terrell laced a double to the left-center field gap to clear the bases. Terrell went to third on a Chance Schmidt single and scored on Smith’s sacrifice fly.
Copiah regained the lead for good in the fourth on a two-run single by Trevor Blocker and RBI singles from Michael Bagley and Colton Brown to make it 9-5.
Shelby Johnson connected on a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to cut the margin to 9-6.
But Renfroe capped the fifth inning with his second home run of the night, a three-run shot to left-center.
The Pioneers tallied another run in the fifth when Terrell walked and scored on Schmidt’s double to left-center.
