The Southwest Mississippi Community College Lady Bears dropped a conference doubleheader Wednesday to visiting Copiah-Lincoln, 8-2 and 12-0 at SMCC.
The Lady Bears fell to 10-14 overall and 3-9 in the Mississippi Association of Community and Junior Colleges Southern Division.
A pair of Haley Sones home runs put the Lady Wolves on top 4-0 after three innings of Game 1. Co-Lin added three runs in the fourth and one more in the sixth.
Southwest scored its only runs of the opener in the bottom of the sixth on freshman Kolbi Lewis’ two-run home run.
Bethany Pinkston went the distance, striking out nine batters while walking three to pick up the win for Co-Lin. Sarah Anthony added a double for the visitors from Wesson.
Ashlyn Grisaffe (4-8) took the loss for the Lady Bears. Tipheri Grimes recorded two singles while Lindsay Clark, Whitney Moore and Hali Sasser all hit safely.
Co-Lin scored four runs apiece in the second, third and fourth innings to easily take the finale.
Sones added another home run, as well as a double, in Game 2, while her teammates Carrie Moak and Lakin Lockhart also smashed homers.
Sones and Tammy Alford each added a double.
Anthony struck out one and walked one to earn the win in the nightcap.
Southwest was held to singles by Bethany Wall and Clark. Moore (6-6) took the pitching loss.
The Lady Bears return to action Friday when they host the Holmes Lady Bulldogs in a 3 p.m. doubleheader.
