MEADVILLE — The Franklin County Bulldogs wrapped up their first division championship since 2006 in Blue & Gold Friday night with a 40-7 win over Wesson.
The Bulldogs got 147 yards rushing on 11 carries and the touchdowns from sophomore speedster DeMartre Collins. The athletic QB scored on runs of 60, 50, and 5 yards.
Senior Michael White added a 69-yard punt return for a touchdown, as Franklin County collected a 30-0 halftime lead.
The Franklin County defense, which limited Wesson to a mere 75 yards of total offense and four first downs kept the Cobras silent for a majority of the game.
Wesson scored on a 38-yard touchdown pass from Tyler Christmas to Detavious Davis.
Franklin County added a safety and got a 28-yard field goal from Trinity Coleman.
With the win coupled with a 32-12 victory by Hazlehurst over Jefferson County, the Bulldogs collected their first district title since 2006, which was also the year the Bulldogs won the 3A State Championship.
