BOGUE CHITTO — Lumberton High School defeated Bogue Chitto 46-7 in Region 4-1A action Friday night at Troy Smith Field.
The Bobcats are still looking for a region win.
In the first quarter, Rasante Willis for Lumberton came up with a 92-yard touchdown reception.
The Panthers lined up for the two-point conversion but the Bobcats held them out of the end zone.
Izell Roberts for Lumberton scored again on a 35-yard reception for a touchdown.
The Panthers were able to get the two-point conversion.
The Bobcats got the ball rolling when Sherman Jackson was able to get the first down on a big run.
At the 2:35 mark of the first quarter, the Bobcats capped off a good drive when Dee Dillon had a 21-yard touchdown reception over a defender. Cameron Price converted the PAT.
The Bobcats were in the game early, but the defense just could not get a stop or turnover. Lumberton led 14-7 at the end of the quarter.
To start off the second quarter, Lumberton added to their lead when Joe Arnold had a 1-yard touchdown run and the PAT was no good.
The Panthers capped off another drive when Blake Ford had a 16-yard touchdown reception and the PAT was successful.
On a third down for the Bobcats, Connor Douglas was intercepted by Daylon Burk of the Panthers.
Lumberton took advantage of the take away and scored again on a 25-yard reception for a touchdown by Javier Chavis, but the PAT was unsuccessful.
At the 4:40 mark of the third quarter, Kobe Roberts for the Bobcats had a big completion down the center of the field to keep the drive alive. But the Panthers’ defense made a big stop to force the Bobcats to turn the ball over on downs.
Defensively for the Bobcats, Matthew Black led the team with 11 tackles. Will Fauver contributed with six tackles. Bo Smithers, KoRoberts, Trey Crittendon, Brandon McKenzie, and C.J. Nunnery had three tackles each.
The Bobcats are on the road at 7 p.m. Friday against Pisgah.
