McLAURIN — The boys and girls basketball teams for Bogue Chitto visited McLaurin and both came out with victories.
The Lady Bobcats started scoring early and finished strong to put up an impressive 57-20 victory over the Lady Tigers of McLaurin.
“We came out playing well offensively and defensively. We did a great job hitting the board tonight,” Bogue Chitto head coach Christi Terrell said. “I’m proud of all the girls they hustled, played hard and everyone got playing time.”
Bogue Chitto went on a 21-5 run to extend its lead to 36 points in the second quarter.
The Lady ’Cats, at the end of the third quarter, led 47-15.
Terrah Nelson led the team with 14 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal. Christian Black had 13 points and seven rebounds. Zariah Matthews had 11 points, two rebounds, five assists and five steals. Karlie Williams had 10 points, three rebounds and a steal. Taneshia May had 8 points, 21 rebounds and one assist. Shakiriana Jefferson had 5 points, three rebounds and a steal. Lineka Newson had eight rebounds and a steal. Tukiyah Godbolt had an assist and four steals. Kylie Hux had a rebound and a steal.
Bobcats win 63-60
The Bogue Chitto Bobcats boys’ basketball team earned its first win of the season against McLaurin 63-60 in overtime.
The Bobcats forced the game in to overtime when D.J. Nunnery hit a big 3-point shot to tie the ballgame. In overtime, Henry Thomas hit a 3-pointer, but free throws determined the Bobcats’ victory.
In the second half of the ballgame, The Tigers came out and scored 20 points in the third with the Bobcats scoring just 16 points. Nunnery came out again a hit a 3-point shot.
In the third quarter, Jeremiah Perkins had 11 points and Will Fauver had 2. In the fourth quarter, Jeremiah Perkins scored 3 points, and Henry Thomas contributed with 4 points. Will Fauver had 3 points.
The Bobcats were down by three points in the last seconds of the game, and Nunnery came up big one more time when he scored from downtown, tying up the ballgame and sending it to overtime.
Going into overtime, the Bobcats had the momentum. Thomas sank a 3 point shot, leading the Bobcats to outscore McLaurin 11-8 in overtime.
The win was the Bobcats’ first of the season.
The Bobcats will play again Monday night at Bogue Chitto.

Nunnery had 17 points, 2 rebounds, two assists and a steal. Thomas had 9 points, an assist, three steals and a block. Dakota McGary had 7 points, three rebounds and an assist. Fauver had five points, eight rebounds, an assist and two blocks. Matthew Black had 4 points and seven rebounds. Tyler Brumfield had 3 points. Brooks Ingles had six rebounds and two assists. Brandon Blackwell had a rebound.
