With only pride riding on the outcome, the Southwest Mississippi Community College football team closes out the season Thursday night at home against Co-Lin.
The game with be Southwest coach Charles Anthony’s final game as a Bear. Anthony announced last month he would resign at the end of the season.
Anthony and Southwest (0-7, 0-5 MACJC South Division) will have their hands full against No. 17 Co-Lin (6-2, 4-1).
“They’re pretty strong and have speed at receiver and the quarterback is accurate. Chandler Rogers is completing almost 60 percent of his passes,” Anthony said.
Rogers, in fact, has been good on 147 of 250 passes with 1, 850 yards and 15 touchdowns. Receiver Joe Craig, Jr. has 31 catches for 369 yards and three touchdowns.
“This is a rivalry game and you can generally throw the records out when Southwest and Co-Lin play each other,” Anthony said.
Anthony also added the game has an extra incentive because a Southwest win could eliminate Co-Lin from playoff contention.
The game can be heard on WAKH 105.7FM (K106) and on the Internet at k106.net and southwestbearathletics.com.
