The Southwest Mississippi C.C. football program is set to host its annual offensive/defensive linemen camp from June 15-17, with the event being open to all high school athletes.
The description of the three-day camp:
"Offensive Line: Teach fundamentals and techniques of individual and combination blocks relative to zone and gap runs. Teach fundamentals and techniques of pass protection versus different defensive fronts and alignments. Progressive blocking techniques will be emphasized and will compete against the defensive line in a 1-on-1 pass pro drill. SMCC Head Coach Les George has a tremendous track record for developing offensive lineman and will be in charge of the participating instructors and drill layouts."
"Defensive Line: Teach fundamentals of reading blocks, escaping blocks, getting off the ball, hat and hand placement, use of hands, defeating the trap or kick-out block, squeezing blocks, and rushing the passer. Will compete against the offensive line in a 1-on-1 pass pro drill. SMCC Defensive line coach Terrence Cody was an All-American defensive lineman at the University of Alabama and a second-round draft pick by the Baltimore Ravens in the 2010 NFL draft, he will be responsible for participating instructors and drill layouts."
Players can either stay overnight in the SMCC dorms or sign up to be a day camper. Check-in will take place from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. on June 15, while dismissal is at 11 a.m. on the 17th.
The cost to sign up is $164 for day campers and $244 for overnight attendees, and there is group pricing available for teams that are taking part.
Athletes are asked to bring a helmet, t-shirts, shorts, cleats, socks and anything else they would need for an overnight stay. All campers will eat at the Holmes Student Union dining hall.
