Southwest baseball traveled to New Orleans on Monday and took down Baton Rouge Community College in a 10-7 win.
Alden Spencer started on the mound for the Bears, pitching 2.2 innings with two strikeouts and picking up the win.
Ian Edwards, Nik Carney, and Tate Miller each recorded a strikeout as well.
Talen Boyd picked up the save for the Bears.
The Southwest offense was rolling early, scoring nine of their 10 runs in the first four innings.
The Bears scored four runs in the first inning. A Drew Swan sacrifice scored two runs.
Then, a Luke Simmons single scored a run followed by Simmons scoring himself after Sam Tumminello reached first on a dropped third strike.
The next Bear run came on a Tanner Moore solo home run, his first and the team’s first of the season.
Scoring three runs in the third inning, the Bears were taking advantage of the situations handed to them. Drew Swan scored on a wild pitch that also advanced two other runners.
Following that, a Cam Bolden sacrifice scored JD Hidalgo. Luke Simmons scored next on a Drew Nelson single that put
the Bears up 8-1.
In the very next inning, Justin Domiano scored on a Drew Swan ground out to put the Bears up 9-3.
The Bears' final run came in the eighth inning when Luke Simmons scored on a Cam Bolden bunt single.
Luke Simmons and Cam Bolden each had two hits. Tanner Moore (HR), Robbie Hokamp, and Drew Nelson all had a hit.
Luke Simmons had three runs while Tanner Moore, Justin Domiano, and JD Hidalgo had two each.

“I thought we played offense and defense really well. It was a good opportunity to give some guys a shot to prove what they can do, and some of them took advantage of it,” head coach Jack Edmonson said. “Overall, we are playing well, we have to continue to get better each day.”
The Bears (11-3) play Hinds and Co-Lin at home on Wednesday.
