Southwest Mississippi C.C. softball coach Shea Johnson recorded the 200th win of his career when his Lady Bears took down Baton Rouge Post-Grad by a score of 11-5 on Thursday.
Johnson has been in charge of the program since 2015 after joining the staff as an assistant in 2011.
The Lady Bears earned post-season berths in three of Johnson’s first four years at the helm. His first team made the first-ever playoff appearance in program history.
The 2018-19 team recorded the most wins in team history (29) while tying the team mark for conference wins (16) and set the team record for consecutive wins (11). Nine players set team individual or career records.
A native of Chalmette, LA, Johnson is a 1986 graduate of Promised Land Academy. Following high school, he attended Southwest and was a two-year member of the football team before receiving his Associate's degree in 1988.
With it still being early in the season, the Lady Bears currently claim a 6-2 overall record, with this most recent result making it four wins in a row for the program.
