Silent bidding is under way for the five paintings offered in the Southwest Mississippi Art Guild’s third annual Art-in-the-Round. Proceeds from the sale of the paintings will benefit a student art scholarship at Southwest Mississippi Community College.
Guild artists who participated this year were Donna Arbelle, Dianne Burris, Lawanna Johnson and Pat Legg. Guest artist was Dana Stratton of Hattiesburg.
Guild committee members were Nelda Breeland, Nancy Brister, chairman Burris, Lisa Causey, Betty Chighizola, Winnie Len Howell and Legg.
The Art-in-the-Round paintings are on display at Pike National Bank, where they will remain on view and open for auction until Oct. 11, when they will be on display at the Horace Holmes Student Union at SMCC, where dinner theater is planned. The silent auction will continue that night. The winner will be announced at the SMCC homecoming banquet on Oct. 13.
The paintings are entitled, “Evening for Two,” “Time for Tea,” “Something to Crow About,” “Royal Flush” and “Summer’s Bounty.”
