Southwest Mississippi is in the path of a band of severe weather that is expected to roll in later this evening.
Forecasters said Wednesday afternoon that the weather is expected to roll in from the west to the east starting around 5 p.m. and ending around midnight.
Forecasters downgraded the threat from a “marginal” to a “slight” risk of severe weather activity.
The Wednesday afternoon forecast downgraded the chances of widespread flash flooding and large hail,
“We have high confidence a line of thunderstorms will cross the area Wednesday evening into early morning Thursday. We have lower to medium confidence that embedded storms in the line will become severe,” National Weather Service forecasters said. “We have lower confidence that this line of storms will result in any flash flooding.”
