The Pike County Community Safe Room will open at noon today ahead of a round of severe weather that could bring strong winds, tornadoes and hail this afternoon.
Civil defense officials said the stormy weather should roll in around 2 p.m. and continue until about 7.
“The main threat will be the wind with tornadoes and hail possible,” officials said in a social media post.
Anyone seeking refuge at the safe room located at 2017 Quinlivan Road, Magnolia, is advised to bring water, drinks, snacks, medications, blankets or jackets.
There will be chairs and tables.
