A ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Martin Luther King Center gym will be held 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 1.
McComb City Administrator David Myers made the announcement at Tuesday’s city board meeting as the board unanimously agreed to pay the final two invoices from contractor Mitchco Construction of Hattiesburg for $84,464 and $21,169.
“We don't owe them any more money,” Myers said. “All the debts for subcontractors have been settled. We have a release of lien from them.”
Myers said lockers were recently installed and all work has been completed.
Myers said he is still working out the details for the activities that will take place at the ribbon-cutting, but he has been in touch with Pike County Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Catherine Sanders about organizing the event.
“We also plan to invite all the former selectmen who were part of the process as well,” he said.
Myers and Mayor Quordiniah Lockley said the names of the previous board members will be inscribed on a plaque at the gym.
“Just want you to know that people in the community have been asking me when are we going to have the dedication,” Lockley said. “It's so good the dedication has been tentatively set for Dec. the 1st at 9:30 a.m.”
