The qualifying deadline for McComb’s municipal elections came Friday, setting up a crowded field for mayor, only one uncontested race and a ballot that features three former city officials trying to reclaim their old seats.
For mayor, incumbent Quordiniah Lockley will run against current Ward 5 Selectman Bruce Mullins, Trischell Veal and David Myers in the May 5 Democrat primary.
A runoff, if needed, will be held May 19.
The Democratic nominee will face independent candidate David Stewart in the June 16 general election. No Republicans qualified.
For Selectman at-large, incumbent Tabitha Felder Isaac will face Shaun Thompson in the Democratic primary.
For Ward 1 Selectman, incumbent Tommy McKenzie, a Republican, is the only incumbent who does not have a challenger.
For Ward 2, Republican incumbent Matt Codding will face Democrat challenger Tiffany Gordon.
For Ward 3, incumbent Terri Waterman-Baylor will face Devante Johnson in the Democratic primary. Johnson previously held this seat from 2018-22.
For Ward 4, incumbent Eddie Thompson will face Dorothy Robinson and Shawn Williams, who held the seat from 2018-2022, in the Democratic primary.
For Ward 5, Ronnie Brock and Kizzy Coney will face off in the Democratic primary. Brock held the seat from 2014-2022.
Roz Ratliff, Joyce England and Lynn Martin will face off in the Democratic primary for a seat on the party’s municipal executive committee.
Martin, who holds seats on the McComb school board and the mcComb-Pike County Airport Board, filed qualifying papers to run for mayor but dropped out of that race to run for a spot on the executive committee.
