The Pike School of Art has organized a 'Boss Up and Get It Done' art contest that will take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 24, at SMCC's Student Union and basketball arena.
The contest is open to all kids ages 5-12, with the 5-8 age group competing under the "My Superpower to Help My Community" banner that encourages them to imagine themselves as heroes within their communities. Ages 9-12 will be in the "Heroes in Real Life" category, which will see them create designs centered around the every-day people that they look up to or aspire to be.
Artwork may be in any medium (crayon, pencil, pens, photo, watercolor, charcoal, digital, etc.) but must be in an 8.5" x 11" format. Entrants are asked to include their first name and age on their pieces, and winners will be notified by Jan. 23 and can pick up their prizes at the ensuing event.
All artwork can be sent to: Pike School of Art - Mississippi, Boss Up and Get It Done Art Contest, 131 N Broadway, McComb, Ms. 39666.
Prior to Saturday's art show, the event will also feature a youth mentorship session at 10 a.m. before a family basketball tournament is held at noon.
