District tournaments across Mississippi concluded last week, which means that it is time for the overall basketball state tournaments to tip-off.
Pike County's basketball teams will all be appearing in games across the MHSAA and MAIS this week, with each squad looking to catch fire and go on a memorable postseason run.
In the MAIS 5A playoffs at Pillow Academy, the top-seeded Parklane Lady Pioneers will face fourth-seeded Simpson Academy at 4 p.m. on Wednesday.
With a victory, the Lady Pioneers would face the winner of the Leake Academy (two seed) vs. Brookhaven Academy (three seed) matchup. Parklane just took down BA in the semifinals of the South-State Tournament.
The Parklane boys team will begin its postseason run as a three seed, and it will take on Simpson Academy as well. The Pioneers play at 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday, and if they win, they will take on the victor of the Oak Forest (one seed) and Leake Academy (four seed) game.
North Pike's girls team emerged as the No. 2 seed out of its district and thus will get to host a Round One matchup against Gautier at 7 p.m. on Friday. The Lady Jaguars would face either top-seeded Laurel or fourth-seeded Brookhaven in the next round.
The third-seeded North Pike boys team will venture to Wayne County for a first-round matchup at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Should they win, the Jaguars would face either top-seeded South Jones (who they lost to in the semifinals of their district tournament) or fourth-seeded Stone.
The South Pike boys and girls basketball teams secured district crowns last week, and therefore they will be hosting opening-round games.
The Lady Eagles will take on fourth-seeded Seminary at 7 p.m. on Monday and would face either Tylertown (two seed) or Enterprise-Clark (three seed) with a win.
The boys team welcomes Hazlehurst to Magnolia at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, and it would face the winner of the St. Patrick (two seed) and Noxubee County (three seed) matchup with a victory.
McComb's boys and girls teams each enter the 4A bracket as the fourth seed out of their district. The Lady Tigers face top-seeded Columbia at 7 p.m. on Monday, while the boys face No. 1-seed Forrest County at the same time Tuesday.
