After working their way through a demanding schedule over the past couple of months, a handful of Pike County's baseball and softball teams are primed to begin their respective postseasons this week.
At the MAIS level, Parklane's baseball team enters the 5A bracket as the third seed out of District 3.
The Pioneers will take on Cathedral in a three-game series this week, with Game One slated for 6:00 p.m. at Parklane on Tuesday while Games Two and Three will take place at 5:00 p.m. on Friday in Natchez.
Should they advance, the Pioneers would face the winner of the Oak Forest-ACCS matchup next week.
North Pike's baseball and softball teams are also set to start their journeys in the MHSAA 5A brackets.
The Lady Jaguars will host Wayne County at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday and then travel to face the War Eagles on Friday at the same time. If a third game is needed, it would take place at North Pike on Saturday at a to-be-determined time.
The third-seeded baseball team squares off with East Central at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday to begin its postseason. The Jags will then travel to face the second-seeded Hornets on Friday at the same time, and if a Game Three is needed, it would take place at East Central on Monday.
With a first round win, the Jaguars would take on the victor of the Florence-Gautier clash.
