Through two weeks of postseason action, three Pike County baseball/softball teams remain alive in their respective postseason brackets.
But now, they'll each gear up for more games this week as the competition only gets tougher from here on out.
The second-seeded North Pike softball team (10-17, 5-3) put forth a dominant showing in its sweep of Wayne County last week, winning two games by a combined score of 21-0.
The Lady Jaguars now await the winner of the East Central-Brookhaven matchup. The Lady Hornets took Game One by a score of 14-1 on Thursday, which has set the sides up for Games Two and (potentially) Three on Monday.
Meanwhile, the North Pike baseball team (20-10, 6-7) split its first two games against East Central, which sets them up for a win-or-go-home Game Three matchup on the road. That clash will take place at 6:00 p.m. Monday.
Parklane's third-seeded baseball team (15-16, 6-9) run-ruled Cathedral on Tuesday before needing a 5-4 result in Friday's Game Three to advance past the Green Wave. It was the program's first playoff-series win since 2018.
Now, the Pioneers find themselves in the semifinals of the MAIS South 5A bracket. They will take on top-seeded Oak Forest in a three-game series that gets started at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday in McComb.
