The local community hosted a ceremony and parade Saturday for the various Southern Mississippi Titans teams who earned titles and honors across a handful of national events this year.
Players were awarded rings, trophies and banners for their achievements before speakers took to the stage and an ensuing parade around downtown McComb was held.
First, a pair of squads made the roughly 25-hour drive to Bullhead City, Arizona in mid-January to take part in the D-I National Tournament.
Led by head coach Corey Otis and assistants Ed Shackleford and Cole Michael, the Mississippi 10U squad won the overall title for its age group.
Meanwhile, the 14U team won the silver championship at its level. That squad was guided by head coach Daniel McGaffeny and assistants Ray Charles Perkins and William "Bam" Quinn.
And in mid-March, the Team Mississippi 14U squad ventured to Dunbar, West Virginia, to participate in the D-I Spring National Championships, and the team of local stars managed to take home the overall title.
The groups consisted of former and current Southern Mississippi Titans athletes as well as kids from Jackson, Tupelo, Port Gibson, Natchez, Tylertown, Brookhaven and other regional areas.
