Parklane junior point guard Zoe Alford was named MAIS 5A Player of the Year for her efforts in helping lead the Lady Pioneers to a South-State Title, a second-place finish in the 5A State Playoffs and a MAIS Overall Championship.
Alford notably tallied 21 points, five rebounds and three assists in the her team's win over Madison-Ridgeland Academy in the Overall title bout. That included her hitting a 3-pointer with under two minutes left in the game that gave Parklane a 39-38 lead, its first of the night.
Alongside freshman Lay Jackson, junior Anna Sawyer and freshman Carlyle Carruth, Alford was also named to the MAIS Overall All-Tournament Team.
The trio of Alford, Jackson and Carruth will return to lead the Lady Pioneers next season as they look to replicate their success.
