Sports Illustrated recently released a series of polls to determine the best returning high school football players for the 2025 season, and in Mississippi, Parklane junior Davis Carruth and Tylertown senior Landon Thompson were both included in the voting.
One of 16 receivers listed, Carruth is the top returning wide out in the MAIS after he racked up over 1,200 all-purpose yards and 12 total touchdowns last season. He had seven games in which he recorded over 100 receiving yards and figures to build on those numbers in 2025.
Meanwhile, Thompson was a do-it-all star for the Chiefs. He caught 48 passes for 870 yards and 11 touchdowns as a receiver, but he also ran for 228 yards and four scores and was a dynamic kick returner for Tylertown.
Carruth and Thompson were listed alongside Hattiesburg's Tristen Keys, Morton's Xavier McDonald, Greene County's Jase Matthews, Grenada's Zayion Cotton, Noxubee County's Jaiden Taylor, Holmes County Central's Gavin Howard and Jaiden Tucker, Lamar's Jalin Trotter, Hartfield's Bralan Womack, Heidelberg's Ja'Kayden Moore, MRA's Case Thomas, Leake Central's Ty'Lan Fortune, George Count's DJ McNair and Charleston's Quentin Carter.
