Victor Barnes, 92, of New Orleans and formerly of McComb, died Feb. 27, 2008, at his home.
Visitation is 8 a.m. Saturday at St. John Missionary Baptist Church in New Orleans until services there at 9 a.m. Local services are 2 p.m. Saturday at St. James Baptist Church in McComb, with the Rev. Luther McEwen officiating. Burial will be in St. James Baptist Church Cemetery, with Cook’s Enterprise Funeral Home in McComb in charge.
Mr. Barnes was born April 11, 1915, in Pike County to Elige and Mattie Williams Barnes.
He was a retired, self-employed mechanic.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Martha Magee Barnes; four brothers; a sister; two sons-in-law; and a son, Samie Barnes Sr.
Survivors include three daughters and a son-in-law Mattie and Edgar Bullock of McComb, Dorothy Wanzo of Milwaukee and Estella Gauff of Dallas; a brother and sister-in-law, Allen and Nancy Barnes of Jackson; a daughter-in-law, Sylvia Barnes of New Orleans; a devoted friend, Mattie Mixon of New Orleans; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
