Pat Wells Smith
Pat Wells Smith, 58, of Collins, died there Nov. 12, 2008, at Covington County Hospital.
Visitation will be noon Saturday at Brown Funeral Home in Gloster, until services there at 2 p.m. The Rev. Melvin Tisdale will officiate. Burial will be in Roseland Cemetery.
Ms. Smith was born Oct. 10, 1950, in Batesville to Calton and Hazel Ray Wells.
She was a bookkeeper and office manager for Barlow & Plunkett Architect and Engineering in Jackson.
Ms. Smith was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Barbara Clark and her husband Ed Clark; one brother, Jimmy Wayne Wells; and a brother-in-law, Rainey McDaniel.
Survivors include one daughter, Sara Froman and her husband Cody of Gloster; one sister, Faye McDaniel of Brandon; and one sister-in-law, Bobbie Wells of Ackerman.
Rev. Monroe Wilson Sr.
The Rev. Monroe Wilson Sr., 80, a lifelong resident of Jefferson Parish, La., died Nov. 10, 2008, at his home in Kenner, La.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Home, 11112 Jefferson Highway, River Ridge, La. A motorcade will proceed at 8 a.m. Saturday to Galilee Baptist Church, Powell Road, Liberty, where dismissal will follow with burial at Cox Cemetery in Liberty.
Rev. Wilson was born Oct. 11, 1928, in Liberty. He was the son of the late Albert Wilson Sr. and the late Ola Robinson Wilson.
He was a retired bricklayer, and he pastored Galilee Baptist Church.
Survivors include his sister, Gloria Dean Wilson; his wife, Peggy Wilson and two daughters, Cindy and Wendy; his first wife, Lois Wilson and nine children, Eugene, Monroe Jr., Wayne, Ronald, Joyce, Michael, Kathy, Gail and Craig; 23 grandchildren and 34 great-grandchildren.
Paul Smith
Paul Smith, 76, of Monticello, died Nov. 12, 2008, at Lawrence County Hospital.
Visitation will be 5 to 8 tonight at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery in Monticello.
Mr. Smith was born Feb. 29, 1932, in Lawrence County. He was the son of Sidney and Agnes Pevey Smith.
He was a lifetime resident of Lawrence County. He was retired from the Mississippi Department of Transportation and was a member of Ruth Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War.
Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Cecile Kyzar Smith of Monticello; and two sons, Justin Mullins of Monticello and Jeremy Mullins of Pontotoc.
Dewitt Coney
Dewitt Coney, 77, of McComb, died Nov. 13, 2008, at Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, after a sudden illness.

Billie F. Polk, 78, of Jackson, died there Nov. 12, 2008, at Lakeland Nursing and Rehab Center.
Visitation will be 5 to 9 tonight at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, and 9 a.m. Saturday until services there at 11 a.m. Burial will be in Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Polk was born Nov. 18, 1929, in Oak Vale. She was the daughter of John Edward Williamson and Amcie Lambert Williamson.
She was retired from McCarty-Holmn Co. where she worked in retail administration. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson.
Mrs. Polk was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Kenneth Polk; three brothers, John B., Buford and B.T. Williamson; and four sisters, Grace Hathorn, Lottie Herman, Bernice Lambert and Marie Jameson.
Survivors include one son, Robert Gregory Polk and his wife Carol of Jackson; three grandsons, Andrew, Philip and John-David Polk, all of Jackson; and one sister, Bertie Fortenberry of Barlow.
Joseph Alford Jr.
Joseph Hardie Alford Jr., 79, of Tylertown, died there Nov. 13, 2008, at Golden Living Center.
Services were 10 a.m. today at Sartinville United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Dennis Calcote and the Rev. Mike Anderson officiating. Burial was in Sartinville Cemetery. Capps Funeral Home in Tylertown was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Alford was born May24, 1929, in Lincoln County. He was the son of Joseph Hardie Alford Sr. and Kathern O. Kyzar.
He was a rig manager with Noble Drilling Co. and a member of Sartinville United Methodist Church. He also was a member of the National Rifle Association.
Mr. Alford was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, William Kyzar “Billy” Alford; and one sister, Sarah Kay Alford Thornhill.
Survivors include his wife, Jessie Jean Harvey Alford of Tylertown; two sons, Cletus D. Alford and his wife Diane of Tylertown, and Jamie Marvin Alford of Pascagoula; four grandchildren, Christy Alford Planche and Brad Alford, both of Tylertown, and Benji and Abbey Alford, both of Pascagoula; five great-grandchildren, Hallie Planche, Bradlee Planche, Tyler Alford, Tristan Alford and Brody Moler; and one sister, Virginia Alford Knippers of Tylertown.
Pallbearers were Ken Ainsworth, Brent Ainsworth, Benji Alford, Kyzar Alford, Gerald Planche and Robert Bond. Honorary pallbearer was Brad Alford.

Mrs. Victorian was born May 3, 1950, in Amite County. She was the daughter of the late John Wells Sr. and Minnie B. Patterson Wells.
She was employed by Waldon Health Care for 17 years until her health failed.
Mrs. Victorian was preceded in death by three brothers, Johnny, John A. and J.B.; three sisters, Dollies Mae Wells, Lucy L. Jackson and Ruby L. Calhoun; and one brother-in-law, Edward Victorian Sr.
Survivors include her husband of 38 years, Norman M. Victorian Sr. of St. Rose; three daughters, Sharon Ann Wells and Norma Jean Francois, both of St. Rose, and Diane Wells of Destrehan, La.; one son, Norman M. Mr. Rutland was born Oct. 9, 1941. He was the son of James L. and Augusta Smith Rutland.
He was a retired pipe liner and a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Mr. Rutland was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Paul Rutland; and one niece, Rhonda Rutland.
Survivors include his wife, Johnnie Mae Neal Rutland of Monticello; two daughters, Connie Rutland Ballard and Melinda Gail Rutland, both of Monticello; one grandson, Devin Wayne Mullins of Monticello; one granddaughter, Nicole Ballard; one brother, Willie Carrol Rutland of Monticello; and two grandchildren.
