Melvin Dock Blades, 67, of Kentwood, La., died March 14, 2001,at his residence.
Services are at 11 a.m. today at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwoodwith the Rev. Chris Watkins officiating. Burial will be in theSpring Creek Cemetery, Spring Creek, La.
Mr. Blades was born July 30, 1933, in Kentwood. He was theson of Otto and Mattie Cutrer Blades.
He was a road grader operator and a U.S. Air Force veteranof the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, WillieJoe Blades.
Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Blades of Kentwood; twodaughters, Shirley Blackwell and Cindy Harriman, both of Kentwood;three sons, Clayton, Larry and Jerry Blades, all of Kentwood;six brothers, Cleon Blades of St. Francisville, La., James andLuther Blades, both of Kentwood, Royal Blades of Baker, La., HenryBlades of Baton Rouge, La., and Clovis Blades of Walker, La.;10 grandchildren.

Visitation is today from 5-8 p.m. and Friday from 10 a.m. untilservices at 2 p.m. at Catchings Funeral Home with the Rev. DonaldDick officiating. Burial will be in Hollywood cemetery.
Mr. Hinton was born April 7, 1934, in Lincoln County. He wasthe son of William F. Hinton Jr. and Willie Coon Hinton.
He was the former owner of Hinton Music Center and Hinton ApplianceService in McComb. He was also chief deputy under former PikeCounty Sheriff Dick Wilson.
Mr. Hinton was a member of First Christian Church in McCombwhere he served as a deacon. He was a Mason.
He was a graduate of McComb High School. He graduated fromthe University of Southern Mississippi in 1956, where he earnedhis bachelor of science degree.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was commissioneda second lieutenant in 1956 and promoted to captain in 1962. Healso served in the Mississippi National Guard from 1958 until1965. He graduated from U.S. Army Helicopter Officers School andwas a second tour-of-duty helicopter pilot. He was also a commercialhelicopter pilot for Petroleum Helicopters Inc. He attended theMississippi Law Enforcement Academy and the Military Law and InvestigationSchool at Fort Benning, Ga.
Mr. Hinton was a charter member of the McComb Jaycees and theMcComb Evening Lions Club, past president of the McComb Noon LionsClub, and served on the McComb-Pike County Airport board for 20years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant son,Michael Shane Hinton.
Survivors include his wife of 21 years, Janice Fenn Hintonof McComb; one daughter and son-in-law, Janel Hinton and AllenTurnage of McComb; seven sons and three daughters-in-law, Dr.William F. “Bill” Hinton IV of Pickens, S.C., Broderick“Ric” and Cherie Hinton of Lavonia, Ga., Keith B. HintonSr. and Dee Dee Hinton, and Kyle and Melanie Hinton, all of Summit,Bobby “Jake” Bellipanni Jr. of McComb, Bryan M. Bellipanniof Atlanta, and U.S. Marine Corps SSGT. Bradley H. Lonnie Holmes, 81, of McComb died March 14, 2001, at Life CareRegional Medical Center in Kenner, La.

Mr. Holmes was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Liberty. He was theson of the late James and Minnie Brown Holmes.
He was a successful self-employed entrepreneur. He was a devotedmember of Parson Hill M.B. Church where he served on the trusteeboard for several years. He served in the U.S. armed forces.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Odessa J. Holmes ofMcComb; a son, Franky J. Holmes of McComb; two daughters, AudreyH. Jenkins of McComb and Lonnie Jean Kelly of Carroga Park, Calif.;two sisters, Amy Sims and Reba Holmes, both of Chicago; sevengrandchildren, Portia J. Seals of Jackson, Greta (Osie) Stubblefieldand Robin (Elwell) Campbell, both of Houston, Texas, Seymore Kellyof Carroga Park, Latonia (Jeff) Holloway and Renada (Dennis) Taylor,both of McComb, and William A. George M. Quin Sr., 70, of Summit died March 14, 2001, at hisdaughter’s home in Meadville.
Visitation is today from 5-9 p.m. at Hartman Funeral Home andcontinues Friday from 8 a.m. until services at 2 p.m. with Dr.David Millican and the Rev. J.L. Touchstone officiating. Burialis in Hollywood Cemetery.
Mr. Quin was born Nov. 15, 1930, in Jackson. He was the sonof Kenneth and Jessie Hinton Quin.
He was a retired electrical engineer for NASA.
He was a 1948 graduate of McComb High School. He graduatedfrom the University of New Mexico, majoring in astronomy and physics,and was instrumental in putting the first man on the moon.
Mr. Quin was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, KennethH. Quin; a son, Mel Alan Quin; a sister, Bertha Faye Quin; anda grandson, Chuckie Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Emma Quin of Summit; mother-in-law,Jennie Lorraine Caston of Summit; two sons and a daughter-in-lawGeorge M. She was a member of Terry’s Creek M.B. Church.
She was preceded in death by her father; a daughter, ShaylaGarrett; and a brother, Kerwin Johnson.
