Johnnie Monzell Anderson McKnight, 95, of Smithdale, died Nov. 9, 2014, at her residence.
Visitation is 6 to 8 tonight at Hartman Funeral Home of McComb and continues Wednesday at East Fork Baptist Church from 9:30 a.m. until services there at 10:30. Dr. Ron Kirkland and the Rev. Tom Burris will officiate. Graveside services will follow in Barron Cemetery in Smithdale, with Bro. Ed Sudduth officiating.
Mrs. McKnight was born Sept. 7, 1919, in Amite County, the daughter of Willie Lonnie and Lelia Ada Honea Anderson.
She was the oldest member of East Fork Baptist Church, serving there for 70 years, and was a founding member of the Women’s Missionary Union at the church. She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and sister.
She loved to cook, sew and quilt. Her passion was for the church and her ministry was reaching out by calling on, cooking for or just being there for all those in need in her community. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Mrs. McKnight was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl “Pete” McKnight; a brother, George Anderson; and a sister, Pearl Anderson.
Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Beverly L. and Lynwood Carr of McComb and Dickie L. and Ronnie Dehabermann of Smithdale; a brother, W.L. Anderson of Glading; a sister, Geraldine Blailock of Oklahoma City; four grandchildren, Kenneth Carr of New Orleans, Kristi Carr of Lafayette, Louisiana, Geoffrey Allen of Baton Rouge and Daniel and Brandy Allen of Smithdale; a sister-in-law, Elaine Anderson of Fernwood; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Kenneth Carr, Geoffrey Allen, Daniel Allen, George W. Anderson, James Oliver Anderson, Greg Barron, Neil Smith, Tim Wilkinson and Cam Sharp.
Honorary pallbearers are Bill Sharp and John Newman.
