James Gregory “Jimmy” Campbell, 52, of Summit, passed away Sept. 2, 2021, at North Oaks Hospital in Hammond, La.
Visitation is 9 a.m. Wednesday until services at 10 at Hartman-Jones Funeral Home of McComb. Dr. Larry LeBlanc will officiate, and burial will be in Biloxi National Cemetery. The family kindly asks that masks be worn.
Jimmy was born in Olympia, Wash., on May 26, 1969, to Keith Richard and Joyce Cauthen Campbell.
Jimmy worked as a forrester for Weyerhaeuser and was a member of First Baptist Church of Summit.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was activated during Desert Storm, where he was a member of Charlie Battery, 1st Battalion, 14th Marines, 4th Marine Division.
He graduated from Biloxi High School Class of 1987 and was a Mississippi State University alumnus. He was a member of the Mississippi Forestry Association and an assistant Scout leader of McComb Troop 124.
He was a wonderful and loving husband, father, son, grandson and brother. He enjoyed bass and saltwater fishing and hunting, and he will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Victor Cauthen; his maternal grandfather, Harold Campbell; and a step-grandfather, Orv Ritcher.
He is survived by his wife of 22 of the happiest years, Stephanie Causey Campbell; three sons, Lawson Reid Campbell, Parker Evan Campbell and Hadin Chase Campbell; a brother, Chris Lee Campbell; paternal grandmother, Marilyn Chase Campbell Ritcher; maternal grandmother, Lawles Cauthen; father-in-law, Ira Gene Causey; mother-in-law, Nathaline Mercante Causey; three brothers-in-law, Mike Causey, Barry Causey (Kristie) and Brent Causey; one nephew, Branden Causey; three nieces, Meghan Causey, Caroline Causey and Riley Campbell; with numerous extended family members.
Pallbearers will be James Harring, Jason Pool, Jason Gum, Ben McDonald, Josh Stringer, Norman Tyner, Jimmy Ellzey, Dustin Trochesset, Andrew Bissonnette and Charlie McCorkle.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Summit and the Mississippi State School of Forestry.
