Huey Elizabeth East Waller, 81, of Kentwood, La., died July 31, 2009, at North Oaks Medical Center in Hammond, La.
Visitation will be 8 a.m. Monday until 2 p.m. services at McKneely Funeral Home in Kentwood. The Rev. Kevin Smith, Elder Joe Nettles and Elder Heath Williams will officiate. Burial will be in Tangipahoa Cemetery in Tangipahoa, La.
Mrs. Waller was born Jan. 17, 1928, at Pine Ridge, La., to Floyd and Betty East.
Her family said she lived her life for others and enjoyed cooking and caring for her family.
She was preceded in death by five sisters, Jessie Travis, Leo Ensign, Margie Peavey, Willye East and Jeanne Morgan; two brothers, Lidge East and John East; her parents; and two grandsons, Ryan Kent Waller and Zachary Roth Waller.
Mrs. Waller is survived by her husband, Ripley Waller of Tangipahoa; one daughter and son-in-law, Paulette Nettles and James of Vidalia, Ga.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Floyd Waller and Charlene of Kentwood, and Mark Waller and Susan of Amite, La.; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth Nettles, Jason Waller, Joseph Nettles, Stacy Waller Guillory, Sharon Nettles Williams, Angela Nettles Atkinson, Alexander Waller and Maxwell Waller; 14 great-grandchildren; and her longtime friend, Floal Simmons of Independence, La.
