Mattie Nell Lloyd, 78, of Peru, Ind., passed away Aug. 31, 2023 at home while she slept.
Visitation is 11 a.m. Thursday at Flowers-Leedy Funeral Home, 105 West Third Street, Peru, until services at 2 p.m. with Donald Fuller Sr. officiating. Burial is 10 a.m. Monday at Marion National Cemetery.
She was born Jan. 6, 1945, in Smithdale to Luther and Jackie Brumfield. She married Otis Lloyd on Dec. 31, 1967. She followed him through his military career in the Air Force for 22 years until his retirement in October 1987.
Mattie, although not in service, served as a cook at the NCO club at Grissom Air Force Base for 10 years. She also worked at the bowling alley, serving and helping the youth there.
She loved cooking along with watching her favorite baseball team, the Cincinnati Reds, along with being a sideline coach for all four of her children. While spending a lifetime helping the servicemen of our military, she touched many lives with a kind word and thousands of home cooked meals. She helped raise all her grandchildren with a deep passion for family and strong sense of faith. She will continue to be missed but will remain present through all of the lives she touched and everyone that she left behind.
Mattie was preceded in death by her two sons, Otis and Jamar Lloyd; her parents; a sister, Maggie Quin; and three brothers, Herthey Carter, Michael Carter and Luther Brumfield.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Roshell Lloyd and Fredrick Lloyd of Peru, Ind.; five grandchildren, Javon Lloyd of Lafayette, Ind., Paxton Burchett-Lloyd and Anya Burchett-Lloyd of Eugene, Ore., Benjamin Lloyd, and Ava Lloyd of Argus, Ind.; sisters; Sheilia Carter and Gladys Lopez of Baton Rouge, Nancy Carter of Mccomb, Lisa Carter and Cynthia Carter of New Orleans; and a brother, Joe Carter of Magnolia.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart and Diabetes Association.

Rosie Mae Anderson Dunn, 70, of Zachary, La., died Aug. 29, 2023, in Baton Rouge.
Visitation is 9 a.m .Friday at Gloster First Baptist Church until services at 10 with Pastor Willie Shavers officiating. Burial is in Macedonia Baptist Church Cemetery, 4989 Dr. Anderson Road, Gloster. Anderson Funeral Home of Gloster is in charge of arrangements.
She was born April 16, 1953, in Gloster to Dennis and Lizzie Bland Anderson. She was a homemaker. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Winonna “Cindy” Anderson Curry; a son, Bryan Keith Dunn Jr.; and her former husband, Able Dunn.
Survivors include her son, Reggie Lewis (Tangela) Dunn Sr. of Zachary, La.; a daughter-in-law, Sonya Kim Dunn of Plant City, Fla.; a son-in-law, Alexis Curry of Baton Rouge; five grandsons, Monquelle Anderson of Plant City, Fla., Reggie “R.J.” Anderson of Tampa, Fla., Bryan Keith Dunn of Atlanta, Reggie Louis Dunn Jr. of Zachary, La., and Brennan Washington of Prairieville, La.; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Sarah J. Davis, 73, of Jackson departed this earthly life Sept. 1, 2023, at McComb Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Visitation is 10 a.m. Saturday at Zion Hill Baptist Church in Woodville until services at 11 with Pastor Tyser Wayne Brown officiating. Burial is in East Cedar Rest Cemetery in Woodville. Peoples Undertaking Co. is in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Davis was born May 26, 1950, in Natchez to Roosevelt and Leola Brown Wilson. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Linda Wilson, Brenda Wilson and Mildred Bolden; four brothers, Willie Douglas Wilson, Leroy Scott, Roosevelt Wilson Jr. and James Williams.
She leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Kimberly Wilson and Tachema Davis; a son, Freddie Davis Jr.; two granddaughters, Kaitlyn Wilson and Gabrielle Wilson; three sisters, Jannie (Alfred) Wells, Rose Wilson and Patricia Wilson; a brother, Calvin Wilson; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
