McComb police have booked three juveniles who went on a burglary spree that has been going on since December, with the crimes committed when the youths were either skipping school or suspended for disciplinary reasons.
Detective Lt. Shannon Sullivan said a 14-year old and two 17-year-olds have been charged with at least 10 burglaries.
Sullivan said one of the juveniles also has been charged with a burglary in Smithdale. He said information in that case has been turned over to Amite County authorities.
He said the 14-year-old was arrested on Feb. 7 and charged with possession of a stolen firearm. He said an investigation determined the gun was stolen from Virginia Avenue resident Dujuan Foote.
Sullivan said another juvenile was implicated in the burglary, and the two 17-year-olds were arrested Feb. 8.
He said all of the burglaries happened between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. when the victims weren’t home and the juveniles either skipped school or had been suspended.
Sullivan did not release their names because of their ages.
He said they also are accused of burglarizing:
• The Fifth Street home of James Cox IV on Dec. 16, when thieves took game systems and games. Burglars returned to Cox’s home on Jan. 4 and took two televisions and an Apple iPad worth $620.
• The Beech Street home of Edessa Taplin on Dec. 21, where someone took change and attempted to remove 32-inch television.
• The Wren Avenue home of Stephanie Coney on Jan. 5, where $1,900 worth of game systems, tablets and jewelry were taken. Sullivan said two of the juveniles were allegedly involved in that burglary.
• The Wilson Drive home of Brittany Williams on Jan. 6, where a laptop worth $100 was taken.
• The Dana Drive home of Terra Williams Jan. 6.
• The Park Street of Jerald Calhoun on Jan. 8, where guns worth $1,030 were taken.
• White Street home of Myrtle Stogner on Jan. 8, where four shotguns and a rifle worth $2,600 were taken.
• The Missouri Avenue home of Lakesha Martin on Jan. 20, where tablets and laptops worth $1,000 were taken.
• The Park Drive home of Lloyd Fleming on Jan. 21, where semi-automatic pistols and revolvers worth $2,025 were taken. Two of the juveniles were allegedly involved in this incident, Sullivan said.
Their cases have been sent to Pike County Youth Court, Sullivan said.
He said much of the stolen goods was sold, and police are working to recover the property.
