Crimestoppers tips led to the arrests Monday of a Gillsburg couple accused of drug activity and a Gloster woman who allegedly had a marijuana plant growing at her house.
Amite County Sheriff Tim Wroten said deputies, working alongside Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics agents, received a tip about a marijuana growing at 3308 Lower Liberty-Gloster Road on Monday.
Deputies arrested Shantell Kirkland, 44, after allegedly seeing marijuana plants in plain view upon pulling in her driveway.
Kirkland was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance and two counts of felony child endangerment, Wroten said. The case remains under investigation, and Wroten said more arrests could come.
Kirkland remained in the county jail this morning held on $30,000 bond.
In a separate case, deputies arrested Chastity Allen, 41, of Kentwood, La., and Ryan Whitehead, 45, of Liberty, after receiving a tip about reported drug activity at a house on Bean Road.
Shortly after deputies arrived to interview the homeowner, Allen and Whitehead arrived in a car. Wroten said deputies reportedly found oxycodone and paraphernalia on Allen and Whitehead at the scene.
They were charged with possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. Whitehead also had an outstanding warrant for felonious taking of a vehicle, which deputies recovered at the scene.
Allen remained in jail in lieu of $10,000 bond, while Whitehead was being held on $20,000 bond.
On Wednesday, deputies arrested Lisa Grice, 52 from Kentwood. Grice was charged with ID fraud and conspiracy.
Wroten said Grice reportedly used an Amite County business banking account number to pay bills online and make fake checks to cash.
Grice is free on bond.
