A 17-year-old McComb girl died Monday from injuries she received in a one-car accident Saturday night on Highway 570 West in Amite County.
The accident occurred about 8:33 about a half mile west of Fenn Road in Smithdale, according to the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
Amite County Coroner James Magee said Megan Shoemake died at University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Shoemake and Anthony Summerall, 17, of Summit, were passengers in a 1985 Nissan pickup driven by Cody L. Etheridge, 15, of Smithdale.
According to reports from Patrol Sgt. Rusty Boyd, Etheridge was driving west on 570 when the truck crossed the center line and veered off the left side of the road, striking a wooden fence.
The truck rolled several times, ejecting Shoemake and Summerall.
All three went by ambulance to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center. Shoemake was later transferred to UMC.
Etheridge and Summerall were treated and released from Southwest.
None of the teens was wearing seat belts, according to the accident report.
The accident remains under investigation, and patrol officials will determine if speed was a factor in the wreck.
