In considering a new superintendent, South Pike trustees are looking for someone from a successful school district.
At a special meeting Tuesday, trustees voted to proceed with the search through the Mississippi School Boards Association.
“All applications go through them and they’re going to determine who’s qualified and send us a list,” board president Sam Hall said. “Then we’re going to start the interview process, but everything goes through them first.”
The district is looking to replace Superintendent Johnnie Vick. Hall said the board looked at a list of candidates it had previously received and discussed the possibility of interviewing some of them again.
“They need to meet the state qualifications and unless we interview them, it’s hard to say what we’re looking for,” he said.
