You don’t have to be a cowboy to be outfitted at Rogers Western Store.
The store, located at 325 W. Presley Blvd., in McComb, has clothing for the entire family, from head to toe — or in this case cowboy hat to boots.
Rogers Western Store opened 19 years ago, and needless to say, the store has found its niche.
“Our store is so diverse,” said owner Kellie McNemar.
“People say Western wear is a fad or a trend, but we think of it as more of a lifestyle,” she said. “The store has a piece of merchandise for every walk of life.”
McNemar didn’t hesitate when asked about the store’s most popular item.
“Currently, it’s women’s fashion boots and men’s work boots,” she said.
McNemar said cowboy boots have evolved over the years.
“The traditional cowboy boot will always be the trademark,” she said. “The most popular for our store is the square toe. We carry many styles by Ariat, Tony Lama, Rocky and Justin. We sell work boots by these brands and more, steel toe and non-steel toe, both in regular and wide widths.”
Rogers Western Store has about 200 different styles of boots, plus shirts, dresses, jeans and a wide variety of hats and boots. The store has a large selection of belts.
“We stock numerous styles of belts for men,” McNemar said. “Cowboy belts with conchos and stitching are still part of the cowboy lifestyle.”
The store has Mississippi State and LSU shirts and sweaters, along with wallets, bracelets and other gifts pertaining to those schools.
For women, the store stocks a variety of purses, tops and dresses, as well as black lace and pullover blouses with crosses.
Daina Powers is the manager. Employees also include Melissa Reed and Jordan Brady.
“What makes us so special from those other boutiques around here is our one-on-one service,” McNemar said. “We can give you the time and service you need to get the right fit or outfit.”
There also are plenty of other items such as picture frames, sleeping bags, woodcrafts, dishes, greeting cards, candles and toys, including the ever-popular rocking horse.
“Children’s toys are so popular that we had to move a lot of them to the front because we’ve sold so many,” McNemar said.
Regular store hours are 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday. Extended hours for Christmas are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m., to 2 p.m. on Christmas Eve. The store will be closed on Christmas Day.
