The annual Pike County Fair begins kicks off Wednesday at the county fairgrounds on Wardlaw Road.
Wednesday’s highlights include a pet show at 7 p.m., which will include a new event this year — an ugly dog contest.
Thursday’s live performances feature gospel music acts Dogwood Cross at 6 p.m., followed by The Veal Brothers of Gloster at 7.
Also Thursday, the St. Andrew’s Senior Center Family Dancers are scheduled to take the Eva Gordon Building stage at 8:30 p.m.
Jazz Night is Friday, with the Pat Cornacchione Jazz Band playing from 6 to 8 p.m. Dave Brewer follows from 8 to 9.
A mini horse show is scheduled for Friday night at 7 in the Williams Building Show Arena.
Saturday’s musical lineup on the Coca-Cola Stage is a tribute to country rhythm and blues.
From 6 to 8 p.m., the Jamey and Jeromy Country Blues Band perform, followed by the Rocket Box Band of Jackson.
Organizers added an antique car show from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday. There is no entry fee.
The children’s petting zoo is open 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday.
The Brock Building will house all the fair exhibits.
The country beef livestock show is scheduled for 6 p.m. Thursday in the Williams Building. A dairy goat show will be 4 p.m. Friday. A market goat show will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by an open beef breeding show at 1 p.m.
Parking is $3 per car. Admission to the fair is free on Wednesday and Thursday. Admission on Friday and Saturday is $1.
Youngsters 12 and under get in free.
Armband nights are Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Armbands are $17 and provide unlimited access to rides.
Gates opens at 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday and noon Saturday.
