Experience a magical Christmas in McComb with Pike County Little Theatre’s production of “A McComb City Christmas.”
Written and directed by Jennifer and Ryan Temple, the show is a collection of Christmas songs linked to a an original story set in McComb and features an original song titled “A McComb City Christmas” written by Christopher Hart.
“A McComb City Christmas” runs 7:30 p.m. today through Saturday and at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the Depot Theatre on 206 State St.
In the show, protagonist Nick Kringle inherits a place, set in Vendors Collection.
“On Christmas Eve, anytime he touches an item, it transports the audience to something that happened in that place,” Jennifer Temple said.
For instance, when Kringle touches a sombrero, the audience is transported to a scene that takes place in Tortilla Soup Mexican Grill and Bar.
Other locations include the McComb Railroad Depot Museum, the Dinner Bell and St. Alphonsus Catholic Church.
“Some of the memories are real things that happened to some of us, some of it is fiction, but all of it is family-friendly,” Temple said.
The idea for the show came from wanting to let the audience bond over life in McComb.
“It’s real cute,” Temple said. “We like the fact that we live in a small town where people are more loving toward each other most of the time. … We were looking for ways to bring more people in. Sometimes we have trouble reaching out to people outside our typical audience.”
The show features a cast of 12: Ryan Temple, Selena Johnson, Jennifer Temple, Christopher Hart, Robin Impson, Seth Karas, Jedidiah Benner, Marty Thweatt, Randy Bullock, Phillip Nance, Annalee Johnson and Debbie Watkins.
