The North Pike School District’s ad valorem request will cause a slight millage increase of .05 percent of one mill, or enough to raise taxes on a $100,000 house by about 50 cents.
The district’s current rate is about 37 mills. The ad valorem request is for $2,063,212 — about 11.25 percent of the district’s $17.8 million 2011-’12 budget.
“We won’t know that until we get real numbers in,” Superintendent Ben Cox told the school board at its meeting last week.
County supervisors will set the millage rate when it handles its own budget, which takes effect in October.
