The North Pike band program is holding a Touch a Truck fundraising event Saturday, 9 a.m to 2 p.m. at North Pike Middle School.
“It’s a concept that’s sweeping the nation,” band director Clint Boulware said. “It’s like a petting zoo for vehicles.”
Admission for the event set on Veterans Day is $5, with free entry offered to children 2 or younger and to veterans.
A conglomeration of heavy construction equipment, 18-wheelers and other large vehicles will be brought together at the NPMS campus so children and families can see them up close, touch them and sit in the control cabin.
Rescue 9 from Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center will also be on hand for viewing and touching, and will take off and land for the spectators at 9:30, 11:30 and 1:30.
A display sponsored by Coca-Cola will feature racecars and all-terrain vehicles.
There will also be other children’s activities and games, a concession stand and a 50/50 raffle at 1 p.m.
North Pike Middle School is on Highway 44 near Pricedale.
