A Copiah County woman who had been missing for nearly a week was found safe and unharmed Thursday at the Bogue Chitto Water Park — but now she’s in jail.
Pike County sheriff’s investigator Lance Falvey located Danielle Webster, 27, around 5:30 p.m.
He said she was with her boyfriend, Michael “Cheese Dip” Herring.
Falvey received a tip regarding Webster’s whereabouts from Southwest Mississippi Narcotics Enforcement Unit Commander Tim Vanderslice and from Lisa Jackson of the Brookhaven Police Department at about 3:30 p.m.
“I got some information that said (Herring) might be in the vicinity. That’s when I headed out to the park,” Falvey said.
He located Herring’s Chevrolet pickup parked next to a camper on lot 69 of the park. “I saw that, then I knocked on the door. Michael Herring eventually opened the door. They were both there,” Falvey said.
“I asked her if she was under any duress and if she wanted me to call an ambulance or take her to the hospital. I offered to give her a ride home, but she refused,” he said. “I encouraged her to contact her family, and she didn’t say anything.”
Instead, she had a “blank look” on her face, Falvey said.
Webster agreed to meet with Copiah County authorities at the Pike County Jail.
She’s been charged with two counts of felony child deprivation and is expected to go before a judge today.
Webster’s disappearance was first noted a week ago after a neighbor spotted her two kids walking in the driveway of the house and on the street unattended on Sept. 4. and called authorities.
Falvey concluded the two were involved romantically.
A previous Facebook message from an alias of Michael Herring seemed to suggest a secret relationship with Webster. Webster reportedly had a previous relationship with Herring, was released by authorities.
Webster reportedly was in another relationship with someone else when she was reported missing.
