A McComb man is recovering after being shot in the leg while meeting a friend.
Detective Sgt. Deska Varnado said Terry Dillon, 402 Caston Avenue, told officers that he was meeting a friend at the intersection of 24th and 11th streets.
Varnado said Dillon saw his friend’s vehicle and parked, then got out of his vehicle and heard two gunshots. Dillon told officers he then felt a burning sensation in one leg.
Dillon was shot in his right leg and attempted to run but fell, cutting his lip. He got up, hobbled back to his vehicle and left the scene.
Dillon then went to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center.
In an unrelated case, detectives are also investigating an auto burglary and a home burglary.
Detective Lt. Shannon Sullivan said officers spoke with Ricky Bowers, who lives in the 400 block of 6th Street.
Bowers told officers that between 11:30 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Saturday, someone broke into his 1998 Ford F-150, taking a Kenwood touch screen CD player. The doors were reportedly unlocked.
Sullivan said Bowers told officers the truck was parked on the 500 block of Fifth Street. He didn’t know why the vehicle Bowers was authorized to drive was parked a block away from his home.
Also, Lindsey Kimball of Summit reported a burglary in the 300 block of Missouri Avenue.
Sullivan said Kimball reported that the burglary happened between Oct. 4 and Saturday.
Officers saw broken glass in the rear door and believe that is how the burglar entered.
Sullivan said three Xbox360 games and a Wii game were taken, each valued at $50.
