An 18-year-old McComb man is recovering after being shot in the wrist while walking home on Tuesday morning, detective said.
McComb police Detective Sid Boyte said Javion Marks, 18, was shot in the wrist around 5:30 a.m. while walking on Summit Street.
Boyte said Marks told officers an unidentified person in a vehicle drove up and fired two shots, one hitting him in the right wrist.
Marks was taken to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center, where he was treated and released.
Boyte said Marks didn’t know who shot him or why.
The incident is still under investigation.
In other unrelated cases, detectives are investigating a pair of Tuesday morning burglaries that occurred at two downtown McComb businesses.
Boyte said the incidents happened between 9:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at McComb Electric Supply Co. and Roger’s Auto Supply.
Tiffany Broom told officers that someone broke into her 2007 Dodge Nitro while it was parked at McComb Electric and stole her cigarettes and lighter. Boyte said there was no damage to the vehicle.
Kasey Brent told police that someone broke into her 2010 Nissan Altima while it was parked in front of Roger’s Auto Supply and stole an undisclosed amount of change.
