A man died Thursday afternoon at the University of Mississippi Medical Center after he fell between 30 and 40 feet off the roof at Croft Metals on Highway 51 in Fernwood.
Danny Ray Hall, 55, fell through a skylight in one of the plant’s buildings.
Hall’s wife, Rebecca Shores Hall, said her husband worked as a maintenance supervisor at Croft. He and his stepson, Justin May, were working on top of the building where old equipment is stored.
She said the two men were facing each other when her husband stepped back and fell through the skylight.
“He hit his head on a metal cabinet and on the concrete floor,” she said.
She said May left the roof and called for help.
Magnolia Police Chief Ray Reynolds said his officers received a call between 8 and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from Croft Metals. He said Hall was transported by AAA Ambulance Service to Southwest Mississippi Regional Medical Center and was then airlifted to University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.
Thursday morning, Rebecca Hall said her husband was in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit and was semi-stable.
“They’re keeping his blood pressure stable with the most meds they can give him,” she said during a phone interview Thursday.
“He’s got a pretty good gash on the back of his head,” she said. “He’s unconscious and he’s been unconscious since he was transported to Southwest from the plant.”
Hall kept friends and loved ones updated through her personal Facebook page. She posted to her page Thursday afternoon that her husband passed away.
She said she’s putting all her hope into God’s hands.
“My God is still in control and He’s still in the business of working miracles,” Hall said.
“We’re asking for people to pray for me and my husband. We just need prayers. We have people praying all over this country. It doesn’t hurt for more,” Hall said. “We’re just asking for prayers.”
