A Magnolia man died in a lumber warehouse accident Monday after he fell through a roof he was working on.
Johnny Clifton Morgan, 38, of 540 First St., died of blunt force injuries after he fell through the skylight of the W.L. Byrd Lumber Co. building at 1090 Highway 51 in Fernwood.
Morgan and a co-worker were performing maintenance duties on the roof of the building, Pike County Coroner Percy Pittman said.
Pittman said Morgan fell approximately 30 to 33 feet from the top of the building to the ground.
The McComb Fire Department and Fernwood Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and were tasked with getting Morgan’s co-worker down from the roof after Morgan fell.
First responders received the call at 1:20 p.m. and Pittman pronounced Morgan dead at approximately 1:55 p.m.
