A Lincoln County man died Wednesday in a Rankin County work-related accident while logging timber for C&G Timber Co. .
The Clarion-Ledger reported Glen Fuller, 41, died around 2:30 after the log truck, in which he was securing a strap near the rear axles, ran over him while being pulled by a bulldozer.
The accident occurred in a notoriously rough area near Haynes Chapel Road.
Rankin County Sheriff’s Office chief investigator Raymond Dukes said it’s common practice for bulldozers to pull trucks from the work site because the roads are so bad.
Fuller was a volunteer firefighter for East Lincoln Volunteer Fire Department for more than 20 years and leaves behind three teenage children.
Lincoln County Civil Defense Director Clifford Galey, who also is the county’s volunteer fire coordinator, said Fuller’s death is a hard blow to the community.
“He was always there and he always did what was asked of him — above and beyond what was asked of him,” Galey said.
Because the accident occurred at work, OSHA will investigate the matter.
