The Enterprise-Journal’s Home for the Holidays local shopping campaign is running through Christmas. Each day the newspaper will feature a participating merchant.
Whether ordering food items from the new menu or old favorites, Broma’s Deli customers are certain to find something to satisfy their appetites.
Broma’s Deli is located at 1722 Veteran Blvd., at the entrance to McComb’s Edgewood Mall, so customers have the option of shopping on a full stomach or waiting to dine after their final purchase.
The business is in its 10th year at the location. Co-owners are Donnie Mitchell and Keith White.
Broma’s Deli co-general manager Leann Stump has been with the business for six years. Co-general manager Kayla Bryan is in her ninth year with Broma’s. They’ve been co-managers since 2010.
Stump said the business began offering new menu items this year.
Among new offerings are The Kickin’ Chicken, which is fried or grilled chicken tenders topped with bleu cheese and hot sauce, and dressed with lettuce and tomato on a fresh bun. The Flying Pig is grilled or fried chicken tenders topped with sliced ham, Swiss cheese, honey mustard, lettuce, tomatoes and pickles on a fresh bun.
The Blackened Salmon Sandwich is a 6-ounce salmon steak blackened to order and served with dill mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and pickle on an onion roll.
“They’ve been good sellers here lately,” Stump said. “The new menu has taken off really well.”
“We’re just trying to keep up with the changing times and updating our menu,” Bryan said.
Each menu item is served with Broma’s Deli signature Broma Chips or other side.
“We fry the chips ourselves,” Stump said. “The flimsy chips taste more like french fries. With the crispy chips, you load them up with cheese and bacon. Most people dip them in ranch dressing.”
Broma’s sweet tea is an award winner. The restaurant’s tea was named a finalist for 2012 Best Sweet Tea by Mississippi Magazine.
“Tea is what Southern people drink,” Bryan said.
The Edgewood Mall location is Broma’s Deli second location in southwest Mississippi. Broma’s opened in Brookhaven the year before the McComb restaurant opened its doors at the mall. The Brookhaven store is located in Whitebrook Square at 1203 Hampton Drive.
Many of the popular menu items, such as the Whitworth Club, The Boulevard, Natchez Ave. and Ole Brook Chicken Sandwich are named after Brookhaven landmarks.
Mississippi Magazine named the Brookhaven location’s sweet tea as a finalist for top honors in 2013.
Broma’s Deli in McComb has 25 employees. Christina Conerly and Karla McCaffery are assistant managers. Scott Balfour is kitchen manager.
Gift cards — from $5 to $100 — are available and make great stocking stuffers for Christmas or for those who enjoy eating out.
Bryan and Stump said the location can’t be overlooked for the store’s success.
“I don’t think the location could be any better,” Bryan said.
Stump agreed. “Mall employees don’t have to leave the mall to eat. Driving somewhere to eat takes half of your break.”
Regular McComb store hours are 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
